- Counting onboarding tasks as a purchase. Max Miles from tasks such as adding a card do not count toward the referral.
- Using Chocolate Finance as the first purchase. HeyMax’s FAQ says Chocolate Finance transactions do not count.
- Cancelling or refunding the purchase. A pending, cancelled or refunded purchase does not complete the referral.

The purchase has to show as Approved. HeyMax says Shop with Max purchases can take several days to a few weeks to be approved, depending on the merchant.
Once it is approved and your phone is verified, HeyMax creates the 200 Max Miles. They stay pending for seven days, then they are credited.

Step 6 — Decide What to Do With Your Max Miles (ongoing)

Most people keep collecting before transferring, because 200 miles on their own will not buy a flight.

Is the HeyMax Referral Worth It? Three Realistic Examples
The voucher buyer. You buy a S$20 supermarket voucher in the app, which you would have spent anyway. Once the purchase is approved and the seven days pass, you have 200 Max Miles. It costs you nothing extra.
The online shopper. You buy shoes through Shop with Max. The merchant takes three weeks to approve the order, so the 200 Max Miles arrive about a month after sign-up. Still worth it — just slower.
The returner. You buy something through Shop with Max and return it. The purchase is refunded, so it does not count. You need another qualifying purchase within the 180 days.
HeyMax suits people who already chase miles. If you never plan to transfer or redeem them, 200 Max Miles are not much of a reason to sign up.
What the Referral Code Cannot Do
It does not pay at sign-up. The reward comes only after both conditions are met and the seven-day pending period ends.
It does not wait forever. You have 180 days from sign-up to verify your phone and get a purchase approved. After that, the referral expires.
It does not work for returning users. Anyone who has had a HeyMax account before is not treated as a new user.
It does not count every transaction. Chocolate Finance transactions and onboarding-task miles are excluded.
