How to use YouTrip referral code: phone sign-up screen showing link applied, gold coins and piggy bank

How to Use a YouTrip Referral Code in Singapore (2026): Step-by-Step Guide

YouTrip gives new users S$5 for joining through a referral link. Most people who go looking for a YouTrip referral code are searching for something that does not exist.

There is no YouTrip referral code to type in. The S$5 is attached to the link you tap before you install the app. If you download YouTrip from the App Store first and go looking for a code box afterwards, the bonus is already gone.

The second thing people get wrong is the top-up. Several guides say you need to load S$20. YouTrip’s own support pages say a top-up of any amount qualifies — and the PayNow minimum is S$1.

This guide walks through the exact order to sign up with the DLCuration YouTrip referral link, the step most people skip, and what to do if the S$5 does not show up.

Why Most People Use a YouTrip Referral Code Wrong

Most people treat a referral as something you add during sign-up. YouTrip treats it as something that happens before the app is even on your phone.

Here are the three mistakes I see most often:

  • Installing the app first. YouTrip’s support article says the person signing up must not have the app before clicking the referral link. Download it from the store first and the referral never attaches.
  • Looking for a code box. The YouTrip sign-up has no referral code field. Searching “where to find YouTrip referral code” leads to a lot of old posts, but the link is the only thing that counts.
  • Stopping after sign-up. Registering earns nothing on its own. You also need to activate the virtual card and make a first top-up.

There is also a timing trap. Each YouTrip referral link is valid for 60 days and then refreshed, so a link copied from an old forum post may no longer track.

The principle the whole process is built on: tap a current link first, install from that link, then finish all three steps — sign-up, card activation and top-up.

What You Need Before You Start

Set aside about 10 minutes. Have these ready:

  • A current YouTrip referral link. Copy it from the YouTrip referral invitation or the DLCuration YouTrip page, which is checked against each refresh.
  • A phone without YouTrip on it. If the app is already installed, delete it before you tap the link.
  • Singpass, or your NRIC or passport. Singpass MyInfo fills in your details in a few taps. Otherwise you upload an ID photo.
  • A way to top up. PayNow is the cheapest route, with a S$1 minimum. A linked card, bank account or Apple Pay needs at least S$20.

You are not eligible if you have ever registered for YouTrip before, even if that account has been dormant for years. YouTrip Family child accounts are also excluded. The DLCuration landing page lists the offer as open to Singapore residents aged 16 and above.

The Full Process: Step by Step

Step 1 — Delete YouTrip If It Is Already Installed (1 minute)

Check your phone. If YouTrip is on it from an old download, delete it now.

The referral is tracked from the moment you tap the link to the moment you install. An app that was already there breaks that chain.

What you end up with: a clean phone, ready to install YouTrip through the link.

Open the YouTrip referral link on the phone you will use YouTrip on. It is a smart link — it sends you straight to the App Store or Google Play listing.

→ Open the YouTrip referral link

Do not tap the link on a laptop and then install on your phone. YouTrip’s blog says to click through “in the same window”, so keep everything on one device.

What you end up with: the YouTrip store page, opened from the referral link.

Step 3 — Install YouTrip and Register Straight Away (3 minutes)

Install the app from the page the link opened, then open it and start registering immediately. Do not leave it for later.

Enter your mobile number and create your login. There is no referral code field to fill in — the link has already done the tracking.

What you end up with: a YouTrip login tied to the referral.

Step 4 — Verify Your Identity (3 to 5 minutes)

Choose Singpass MyInfo if you can. It pulls your name, NRIC and address in a few taps, and approval is usually quick.

Without Singpass, you photograph your NRIC or passport and take a selfie. This route can take longer to review.

What you end up with: a verified account and a YouTrip virtual Mastercard. The physical card follows by post in about 7 to 12 business days.

Step 5 — Activate the Virtual Card (1 minute)

This is the step most guides leave out. YouTrip’s support article lists activating the virtual card as one of the three conditions for the S$5.

Follow the in-app prompt to activate the virtual card. You do not need to wait for the physical card to arrive.

What you end up with: an active virtual card — condition two of three done.

Step 6 — Make Your First Top-Up (2 minutes)

Top up your YouTrip wallet in Singapore dollars. YouTrip’s referral terms say a top-up of any amount qualifies. The minimum depends on how you pay:

Top-Up MethodMinimum
PayNowS$1
Linked debit or credit cardS$20
Linked bank accountS$20
Apple PayS$20

If you are not travelling soon, PayNow S$1 is the easy way to qualify. If you are, top up what you plan to spend anyway.

What you end up with: a funded wallet — all three conditions met.

Step 7 — Check Your Wallet for the S$5 (no action)

YouTrip credits the S$5 automatically once the top-up clears. There is nothing to claim and no form to fill in.

The S$5 sits in your SGD wallet like any other balance. You can spend it overseas, online or in Singapore with your YouTrip card.

What you end up with: S$5 in your YouTrip wallet.

Is the YouTrip Referral Worth It? Three Realistic Examples

S$5 is not life-changing. Whether it is worth 10 minutes depends on why you want YouTrip in the first place.

The trip in two weeks. You are flying to Tokyo and want a multi-currency card. You sign up through the link, top up S$500 via PayNow and convert to yen in the app. The S$5 pays for a bowl of ramen, and you would have done every step anyway.

The “just in case” sign-up. No trip is planned, but you want the card ready. You top up S$1 via PayNow to qualify. You end up with S$6 in your wallet and a card waiting for your next holiday.

The existing user. You downloaded YouTrip years ago and stopped using it. You are not eligible — the bonus is for people who have never registered. Opening a second account to claim it is not allowed and can lead to the reward being clawed back.

The bonus never makes YouTrip a better or worse card. If a multi-currency wallet suits how you travel, the referral link makes the sign-up slightly more rewarding. If it does not, S$5 is not a reason to sign up.

It cannot be added after you install. There is no code field in the app, so a referral cannot be fixed afterwards. If you installed YouTrip before tapping the link, the S$5 is gone for that account.

It cannot revive an old account. Anyone who has registered for YouTrip before is excluded, however long ago.

It cannot pay out without all three steps. Sign-up alone, or sign-up plus card activation without a top-up, earns nothing.

It does not last forever. Each referral link is valid for 60 days. Use a link from a page that is kept up to date, not one copied from an old post.

Using a referral link has no effect on how your money is held. YouTrip Singapore is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a major payment institution.

A YouTrip wallet is an e-wallet, not a bank account. The balance is not covered by SDIC deposit insurance, so keep it to what you plan to spend on your trips.

None of this is financial advice. Choose a travel card for its rates, fees and how you use it — the S$5 is a bonus, not a reason.

Tips to Get the Most From the YouTrip Referral

Keep everything on one phone. Tap the link, install and register on the same device, in one go. Switching devices halfway is the easiest way to lose the referral.

Screenshot the store page you landed on. A screenshot of the store listing the link opened is useful evidence if the S$5 does not appear.

Use PayNow for the qualifying top-up. It has the lowest minimum, at S$1, and does not depend on your card being accepted for top-ups.

Time it before a Mega Travel Day. YouTrip’s Mega Travel Day runs on 1 November and 1 December 2026, with up to 25% cashback on selected travel bookings. Sign up a few days before so your account is verified in time.

Give it a few business days before chasing. If the S$5 has not appeared about a week after your top-up, contact YouTrip through Help in the app and mention that you joined through a referral link.

What If You Already Have a YouTrip Account?

You are not eligible for the new-user S$5. YouTrip’s referral terms only cover people who have never signed up.

You can still earn from referrals the other way round. Share your own link from the Invite your friends banner on the YouTrip home screen. YouTrip pays S$5 for each friend who signs up, activates the virtual card and tops up, plus a one-time S$50 bonus once you reach 10 referrals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a YouTrip referral code I can enter?

No. YouTrip’s referral programme works through a link, not a code. The referral is tracked from the link you tap before installing the app, so there is no field to type a code into during sign-up.

Where do I find a YouTrip referral link?

From a friend who already uses YouTrip, or from the DLCuration YouTrip referral page, which carries a current link. Existing users find their own link on the YouTrip home screen under the “Invite your friends” banner. Links are refreshed every 60 days, so use a recent one.

How much do I get with a YouTrip referral link?

S$5, credited automatically to your YouTrip wallet. You get it after you sign up through the link, activate the virtual card and make your first top-up of any amount. The person who referred you also gets S$5.

Do I need to top up S$20 to get the YouTrip referral bonus?

No. YouTrip’s referral terms say a top-up of any amount qualifies. The minimum depends on the method: S$1 by PayNow, or S$20 by linked card, bank account or Apple Pay.

Can I use a YouTrip referral link if I already installed the app?

Not if you installed it before tapping the link. YouTrip requires that you did not have the app before clicking the referral link. If you have not registered yet, delete the app, tap the link and install again before you sign up.

How long does the YouTrip S$5 take to arrive?

YouTrip credits it automatically once all three conditions are met and your top-up has cleared. YouTrip does not publish an exact timeframe. If it has not arrived after about a week, contact YouTrip support through the app.

Final Thoughts

The YouTrip referral bonus is small and easy to lose. The whole thing comes down to order: tap the link, install from it, then finish all three steps — sign-up, card activation and a top-up of any amount.

Do not let the S$20 myth stop you. A S$1 PayNow top-up qualifies, so you can collect the S$5 today and have the card ready before your next trip.

Start with the link. Everything else follows from getting that one step right.
