What Is KrisFlyer?

KrisFlyer is the frequent flyer programme of Singapore Airlines (SIA), one of the world's most consistently ranked premium airlines. Members earn KrisFlyer miles by flying Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and partner airlines, or through everyday spending on co-branded credit cards, hotel stays, and retail partners.

Miles can be redeemed for award flights on Singapore Airlines and partner carriers, flight upgrades, Scoot redemptions, and more. The award chart is based on zones — geographic regions that group destinations by distance and network from Singapore — rather than a points-per-dollar value, which makes the calculator approach on this page the most intuitive way to plan.

🌐
Zone-Based Chart
Miles required depend on the destination zone, not the exact distance. Zones 2–13 cover all SIA destinations from Singapore.
🎫
Two Award Types
Saver (fewer miles, limited seats) and Advantage (more miles, better availability + stopovers). Both are one-way bookable.
🔁
Round-Trip = 2× One-Way
A return SIA award ticket always costs exactly twice the one-way miles. The calculator shows both automatically.
💳
Taxes Paid Separately
Taxes, airport charges, and surcharges are additional to miles — payable by card at booking. Saver Economy awards start from approximately US$24 on some routes.

Saver vs Advantage Awards

Choosing between Saver and Advantage is essentially a trade-off between miles cost and seat availability. Here is the full breakdown:

Saver Award

Lower miles, limited seats

  • Fewest miles required
  • Available on all SIA cabin classes
  • Premium Economy available
  • Good for flexible travellers who book early
  • Limited seat availability
  • Peak dates can be hard to secure
  • No complimentary stopovers
Advantage Award

More miles, better availability

  • Access to more seats on every flight
  • Two complimentary stopovers per round-trip
  • Ideal when dates are fixed
  • Reliable for last-minute bookings
  • Costs roughly 1.5–2× Saver miles
  • Premium Economy not available
Stopover tip: An Advantage round-trip award includes up to two complimentary stopovers of 24 hours or more — up to 30 days — anywhere on your routing. This can make the higher miles cost worthwhile if you want to visit two destinations on one trip. Stopovers can be added on singaporeair.com when booking eligible award tickets.

For most travellers booking well in advance to popular leisure destinations (Japan, Australia, Europe), Saver is the better value — especially in Economy or Business. Advantage makes more sense when Saver seats are sold out or when the stopover benefit adds meaningful value to your itinerary.

How to Use This Calculator

This calculator covers Singapore Airlines award flights departing from Singapore, based on the official SIA one-way award chart effective 1 November 2025.

  1. Select Award Type — Saver (fewer miles) or Advantage (more miles, better availability)
  2. Set Trip Type — One-way or Return (return = exactly 2× one-way miles)
  3. Set Passengers — 1 to 9. The total miles shown reflects all passengers combined
  4. Choose Destination — Search by country, city, or region. Each zone groups nearby destinations
  5. Select Cabin Class — Economy, Premium Economy (Saver only), Business, or Suites/First
  6. Read the results — Per-person miles, total miles for all passengers, and the full cabin comparison table below the calculator

What this calculator does not cover

  • Access Redemption — dynamic miles pricing where exact amounts are shown only at point of booking
  • Star Alliance / partner airline awards — different mile rates apply
  • Taxes and surcharges — additional to miles and vary by route and date
  • Upgrade awards — use SIA's official upgrade chart for upgrade redemptions
  • Scoot redemptions — start from 1,500 KrisFlyer miles; book via flyscoot.com
  • Infant tickets — cannot be booked on KrisFlyer award miles; must be purchased with cash
  • Children (ages 2–11) — require the same miles as adults for Saver and Advantage awards

For exact figures including taxes on a specific date and flight, always use Singapore Airlines' official miles calculator or book directly on singaporeair.com.

Access Redemption Explained

Access Redemption is a third redemption type introduced by Singapore Airlines that operates differently from Saver and Advantage awards. It is not covered in this calculator because the miles required are dynamic — they change based on demand and are only shown at the point of booking confirmation.

🔓
Secured Seats
Access lets you use miles to book any available seat — even if all Saver and Advantage award seats are fully redeemed. You are not competing for a limited award bucket.
📊
Dynamic Pricing
The miles required vary based on seat demand and can fluctuate throughout the year. The award chart does not apply — the figure is displayed only when booking.
When to Use It
Useful when your travel dates are fixed and no Saver or Advantage seats remain. Ideal for last-minute or peak-season bookings where award availability is low.

To explore Access Redemption, visit Singapore Airlines' award booking portal directly.

Tips to Maximise Your Miles

1
Book Saver seats 11–12 months out
SIA releases Saver award seats early. The best availability — especially for Business Class and Suites to Japan, Europe, and Australia — goes quickly. Book as soon as the booking window opens.
2
Use Advantage for fixed travel dates
If your dates are locked in and no Saver seats remain, Advantage is your reliable fallback. The higher miles cost is often worth it over forfeiting the trip entirely.
3
Leverage the Advantage stopover
An Advantage round-trip award includes two complimentary stopovers of up to 30 days each. Adding a Tokyo stopover on your London itinerary, for example, costs no extra miles — just the additional taxes.
4
Earn miles on credit cards
SIA-branded and miles-earning credit cards (e.g. KrisFlyer UOB, Amex Singapore Airlines, Citi PremierMiles) are one of the fastest ways to accumulate miles through everyday spending without flying.
5
Use up to 5 redemption nominees
KrisFlyer members can designate up to five redemption nominees — family, friends, or colleagues. You can use your miles to book award tickets for them. Adding nominees is free; deleting them costs miles.
6
Mind the miles expiry
KrisFlyer miles expire after 3 years of account inactivity. Keep your account active with small transactions — a Scoot booking, a KrisShop purchase, or a partner earn — to preserve your balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Saver award requires fewer KrisFlyer miles but has limited seat availability. It is the most popular option and seats can fill up quickly, especially on peak travel dates. An Advantage award requires roughly 1.5–2× more miles but offers access to more seats on all flights and includes two complimentary stopovers per round-trip ticket — making it ideal for travellers who need confirmed seats or want to extend their itinerary.
A one-way Business Saver award from Singapore to London (Zone 11 — Europe) requires 108,500 KrisFlyer miles. A round-trip Business Saver requires 217,000 miles. On an Advantage award, one-way Business requires 141,500 miles. All figures exclude taxes, surcharges, and fees payable by card at booking.
No. Premium Economy (W Class) is only available as a Saver award. It is not available on Advantage awards. If you select Advantage in the calculator above, Premium Economy is automatically disabled. This is reflected in the official SIA award chart effective November 2025.
Yes — for Singapore Airlines award flights, a round-trip ticket always costs exactly twice the one-way miles. The calculator above shows both figures. Note that Advantage round-trip awards additionally include two complimentary stopovers, which adds value beyond the mileage figures alone.
Taxes, airport charges, and fuel surcharges are additional to miles on all KrisFlyer award redemptions and are payable by credit or debit card at the time of booking. These vary by route, departure airport, and travel date. Saver Economy awards start from approximately US$24 in taxes on some routes; long-haul awards to Europe or the US can carry several hundred dollars in fees. Always check the exact taxes on singaporeair.com before committing to a redemption.
Access Redemption lets you use miles to book any available seat — even if no Saver or Advantage award seats remain. The miles required are dynamic and vary by demand; they are not fixed in the award chart and cannot be shown in this calculator. The exact miles required are displayed only at the point of booking confirmation on singaporeair.com. Access is useful when your travel dates are fixed and award availability is zero.
Children aged 2–11 require the same number of KrisFlyer miles as adults for Saver and Advantage awards. Infants (7 days to under 2 years) cannot be booked on KrisFlyer award tickets — their tickets must be purchased with cash. Please contact KrisFlyer Membership Services for assistance with infant bookings alongside an award redemption.
Yes. KrisFlyer miles can be redeemed for Economy Class award flights on Scoot, starting from as little as 1,500 KrisFlyer miles. You can also mix miles and cash on flyscoot.com, starting from 1,000 miles. Scoot redemptions are booked via flyscoot.com or the Scoot mobile app — not through the Singapore Airlines booking portal. This calculator covers SIA flights only.
