Star Voyager cruise Singapore banner with cruise ship under a starry sky and November to January dates

Star Voyager From Singapore 2026: Is the Cheap Cruise Worth It?

StarCruises is back in Singapore, and its Star Voyager has some of the lowest cruise fares you will see from here this year. A night at sea from S$49. Two nights to Melaka from S$269.

But Star Voyager is only in Singapore for about six weeks, from around 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. It leaves from HarbourFront, not Marina Bay. And the S$49 fare is one-way: it drops you in Port Klang, Malaysia, and leaves you to find your own way home.

None of that makes it a bad deal. It makes it a deal you need to understand before you book.

I went through every Star Voyager package on Klook, StarCruises’ published sailings, trade press on the ship’s refit and relaunch, and the fee changes over the past year. This review covers what the ship offers, what a trip costs once tips and surcharges are added, and how it compares with Genting Dream. Here is the complete, honest verdict.

What Is Star Voyager?

Star Voyager is a 77,441-tonne ship built by Fincantieri in 1997. It carries about 1,940 guests. You may know it from its earlier lives: it sailed as Princess Cruises’ Dawn Princess for 20 years, then as P&O Australia’s Pacific Explorer until early 2025.

Resorts World’s cruise arm bought the ship in 2025, spent about US$50 million on a refit, and relaunched it under the revived StarCruises name, per Seatrade. Its first StarCruises voyage left Singapore on 26 March 2025.

StarCruises and Dream Cruises (which runs Genting Dream) are now both owned by StarDream Cruises. Resorts World Cruises was the interim name between 2022 and 2025. Resorts World One, the other ship you may remember, is now called Star Navigator and is based in Taiwan.

The honest caveat: this is a 29-year-old ship. A launch review in Cruise Passenger found rusty balcony furniture and areas still being finished. One Klook reviewer put it plainly: “The ship a bit old, I still like Genting cruise more.”

When Star Voyager Sails From Singapore

Star Voyager rotates between Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. On 23 October 2026, it was sailing from Hong Kong. Its Singapore season runs from about 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, based on its published schedule on CruiseMapper and Klook’s dates.

All Singapore sailings leave from the Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront, above HarbourFront MRT. That is a different terminal from Disney, Royal Caribbean and Genting Dream, which use Marina Bay Cruise Centre.

Itineraries From Singapore

  • 1-night one-way to Port Klang — 4 and 17 December 2026. You disembark in Malaysia.
  • 2-night high seas weekend cruise — no ports.
  • 2-night Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Melaka or Pulau Pangkor.
  • 3-night Kuala Lumpur and Penang, or Pangkor and Penang.
  • 4-night Langkawi, Pangkor and Kuala Lumpur — 26 December 2026 only.

After the year-end season, the ship returns for four-night Singapore to Jakarta sailings on 5, 9 and 13 March 2027, according to Cruise Industry News.

Star Voyager Fares in 2026: The Full Breakdown

Official Year End Sale Lead Fares (Per Person, Two Sharing)

These were the lowest fares on StarCruises’ booking pages, as reported by MissLobang on 17 October 2026:

SailingFrom
1-night one-way to Port KlangS$49
2-night Melaka or Port KlangS$269
2-night Pulau PangkorS$329
3-night Pangkor and PenangS$369
4-night Langkawi, Pangkor and Kuala LumpurS$549

Klook Fares

Klook’s headline price of S$68.59 is the one-night, one-way Interior cabin to Port Klang. That is about S$20 more than the official lead fare for the same sailing. But Klook’s two-night and four-night prices, shown in US dollars, looked lower than the official lead fares on 23 October. Price your exact date in both places.

On Klook, the one-night sailing runs from S$68.59 for an Interior cabin to S$200.45 for a Palace Penthouse.

What the Fare Includes

  • Your cabin.
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Lido buffet (with a certified Halal section), The Bistro (Western set menu) and North Star Dining (Chinese set menu).
  • Shows in the Zodiac Theatre, gala night, pools, the Aqua Park waterslides, a zipline, rock wall and arcade.
  • The Little Dreamers kids’ club.
  • Port charges.

Hidden Costs to Know About

Gratuities: S$27 per person per night. This rises to S$33 in Balcony cabins and S$40 in The Palace suites. They are charged to your onboard account. Babies under two are exempt.

A fuel surcharge that comes and goes. StarCruises added S$15 per person per night in March 2026, then waived it for Singapore sailings from 26 June 2026, as reported by Mothership. Klook now lists a S$10 per person per night charge on bookings made from 1 October 2026. I found no announcement of it, so check your booking total.

The trip home from Port Klang. On the one-way sailing, you pay for your own return. Port Klang is about an hour from KL Sentral by KTM Komuter, and then you need a bus or flight back to Singapore.

Drinks, Wi-Fi and specialty dining. Alcohol, specialty coffee, Wi-Fi and the Silk Road and Mozzarella restaurants all cost extra.

Promo fare cancellations. Klook’s cancellation scale for promo and peak sailings: free 90 or more days out, 30% from 89 to 46 days, 50% from 45 to 30 days, 70% from 29 to 15 days, and 100% within 14 days.

StarCruises does not publish third and fourth guest fares, so the family figure assumes everyone pays the lead fare. Ask about child and third-guest rates when you book.

Midweek departures are usually the cheapest. CruiseMapper’s two-night fares were about US$209 for Tuesday and Wednesday sailings in late November and December, against US$259 for Friday sailings.

Core Features: What Star Voyager Actually Does

Dining — Three Free Restaurants and a Halal Section

The Lido buffet, The Bistro and North Star Dining are included. The Lido’s certified Halal section makes this one of the easier cruises for Muslim families. Silk Road (Chinese à la carte) and Mozzarella (Italian) cost extra.

Entertainment Aimed at Asian Families

The Zodiac Theatre runs production shows, and there is a Red-Carpet Gala night with the captain, deck barbecues and cinema at sea. Programming leans towards Asian audiences, with Chinese-language content.

Pools, Slides and a Zipline

There are three pools, the Aqua Park waterslides, a High Line zipline, a rock wall and the Level UP arcade. The launch review found the Aqua Park and zipline under maintenance in April 2025, so do not book purely for them.

The Palace — A Ship Within a Ship

The Palace is a private suite area with butler service and its own restaurant. On Klook, a Palace Suite on the one-night sailing was S$156.15, which is cheap for a butler-serviced suite.

Casino

Deck plans show a casino lounge with slots and tables. Ship casinos normally open only once the ship is in international waters.

Genting Dream is the newer, bigger ship, sails all year from the more convenient terminal and is often similarly priced. It returned from drydock on 25 September 2026, per Cruise Industry News.

Star Voyager’s case is its smaller size, cheap Palace suites, and itineraries such as Pulau Pangkor and the one-way Port Klang hop that Genting Dream does not offer. If you are torn, price the same weekend on both.

Who Should Book Star Voyager

Star Voyager is a strong fit if:

  • You want a short, cheap year-end cruise during the December school holidays.
  • You live near HarbourFront, or the west of Singapore.
  • You want a suite experience on a budget.
  • You are planning a KL trip and like the idea of sailing up one way.
  • You need Halal food on board.

Star Voyager is not a strong fit if:

  • You want to sail outside late November to early January.
  • You want a new or recently built ship. Look at Disney Adventure.
  • You want Western-style Broadway shows and big-ship activities. Look at Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas.
  • You might need to cancel. Promo fares lose 30% from 89 days out.

Is Star Voyager Worth It in 2026?

For a two-night break, yes. A couple pays about S$700 to S$840 all in for two nights of meals, shows and pools, with a port stop if you pick Melaka or Port Klang. Two nights in a Sentosa hotel with meals for two often costs more.

The one-night Port Klang sailing is the best-value way to start a KL trip: a cabin, dinner, breakfast and a show for less than many budget flights, if you were going to KL anyway.

What you should not do is book the S$49 headline thinking it is a cheap night out and back. It is not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Star Voyager the same as Genting Dream or Resorts World Cruises?

No, but they are related. Star Voyager is a StarCruises ship, and Genting Dream is a Dream Cruises ship. Both brands are owned by StarDream Cruises, which replaced the Resorts World Cruises name in 2025.

Which terminal does Star Voyager leave from in Singapore?

The Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront, above HarbourFront MRT. Most other big ships, including Genting Dream, Disney Adventure and Royal Caribbean, leave from Marina Bay Cruise Centre.

Are meals included on Star Voyager?

Yes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Lido buffet, The Bistro and North Star Dining are included, and the Lido has a certified Halal section. Alcohol, specialty coffee and the two specialty restaurants cost extra.

How much are the gratuities on StarCruises?

S$27 per person per night in Interior and Oceanview cabins, S$33 in Balcony cabins and S$40 in The Palace suites. They are charged to your onboard account, and children under two do not pay them.

Do I need a passport for a Star Voyager cruise to nowhere?

Yes. Klook’s terms say every guest needs a passport valid for at least six months beyond the end of the cruise, even on high-seas sailings with no port, because you clear immigration.

What is the cheapest cruise from Singapore right now?

Star Voyager’s one-night, one-way sailing to Port Klang from S$49 has the lowest fare, but you must pay to get home. For a round trip, Star Voyager and Genting Dream two-night cruises from about S$172 to S$269 per person are the cheapest, before gratuities.

Final Verdict

Star Voyager earns 3.6 out of 5 stars.

It earns high marks for price: cheap round trips, cheap Palace suites, included Halal dining and a useful one-way option to Malaysia. It loses points for a 29-year-old ship, a six-week Singapore season, a fuel surcharge that keeps changing and strict cancellation terms on promo fares.

Book it for a budget year-end break, a December school-holiday trip or a one-way start to a KL holiday. If you want a newer ship or to sail at another time of year, look at Genting Dream, or read my complete guide to cruises from Singapore.
